In a world where we have routines to get everything done, we rarely have a routine for our spiritual self.

In a world where we have routines for nearly everything—our route to work, our physical fitness regimen, and our weekday schedule—it’s amazing how many people forget to create a routine for meeting their spiritual needs. We run around in an attempt to be at our many appointments on time and meet our many obligations. In our efforts to be as productive as possible, however, our spiritual needs tend to take a backseat. After all, taking care of our spiritual needs doesn’t directly pay the bills or tone our abdominal muscles. We may even wonder who has time to meditate or write in their journal when there are more pressing matters to see to. The truth is that nurturing ourselves spiritually is what gives us the energy and grounding that we need to make sure that our lives stay on track.

How you choose to nurture yourself spiritually is a personal choice. For some people, meditating once a day may be what they need to stay centered. While spending 10-20 minutes with your eyes closed and your brain devoid of thought may seem like a lot of time doing nothing, this state of nothingness actually allows you to stay calm and focused so you can be as productive as possible. Writing in your journal everyday lets you stay in touch with yourself so that you are always tuned in to your feelings. Repeating affirmations for success, happiness, and well-being on a regular basis can help you live with optimism and enthusiasm and create what you want in life.

Having a routine for nurturing your spirit that you do each day lets you feed energy to your soul and can serve you well if your life suddenly takes an unexpected turn into a difficult period. This kind of routine grounds your spirit in your body so that you stay anchored in yourself as you move through each day. Nurturing yourself spiritually allows you to not only stay on track in your life, but it allows for your life to stay on track with what your spirit wants

I am just inundated with negative stories- all over the world, child killings, entire families murdered, policemen..it's rough. Many people who come to my house say they never watch the news. I definitely know why when we eleveate 2 has been actors to watching their every move?Please - for this reason I have decided to post from now on a feel good story everyday. I already post what I'm thankful for and in nearly 4 years have never repeated. So be ready...

It is up to us to seek out media that empowers and informs us, and to say no to media that drains energy and hope.

There is a lot of information available to us at this time in history, more than ever before, and it travels fast. We are able to learn in the blink of an eye about something that happened halfway around the world, and it’s natural for us to want to know what’s going on. However, it’s also fair to say that we don’t want to become so caught up in one way of looking at events that we lose perspective. Often, the news comes to us in a very fear-oriented format, and when too many of us get caught up in fear, the balance of the whole is disrupted. It helps to remember that we have a much greater and more positive impact on the world when we maintain our inner sense of peace and joy.

We are aware enough to know when we are eating something that is not good for us, because we don’t feel well after we’ve eaten it. In the same way, we can determine for ourselves whether the sources in which our information comes are ultimately healthful. News can be presented in a way that inspires us to take positive action to help the world, or it can be presented in a way that leaves us feeling powerless and sad. It is up to us to seek out and support media that empowers and informs us, and to say no to media that drains our energy and our hope.

For a time, it may even be of benefit to commit to a media fast, in which we stop taking information in for a time to give ourselves a rest. When we return to the task of taking in and processing the information all around us, we will come to it with a fresh mind. This will enable us to really notice how we are affected by what we hear and see, and to make conscious choices about the sources of information that we allow into our lives.

By seeing the beauty in the small details of life, you may be able to envision the universe of molecules involved in something as simple as a flower. Then you could get a sense of the amazing synchronicity of the universe, leaving you astonished and humbled. As you are awed by the great mysteries of life, you have the ability today to recognize that you and the flower are beautiful, small, intricate, and necessary elements in the huge tapestry of life.
In the early years of our lives, everything is new and amazing. As we get older, we learn to focus our attention on just the things we need to get through the day. But at any time, we can make the choice to pay attention to the beauty of the sun and how the plants and flowers turn toward the light. We can take a moment to watch birds or other small creatures participate in the dance of life. BREAKING NEWS: 3 Potential Buyers For Harder Hall Kathy Waters/Highlands Today

There are three new potential buyers for the historic Harder Hall hotel in Sebring. By Marc Valero Highlands Today Published: August 28, 2008SEBRING - Sebring officials are negotiating contracts with two separate "entities" proposing to purchasing Harder Hall, and a third party has shown interest in the historic structure."We've had a meeting with one of the entities to further define what their vision for the place was and to negotiate the fine points of the contract," said former City Manager Bob Hoffman, who is still working for the city until September. "Those contracts have not been finalized yet."The hope was to get the contracts on the city council's Sept. 2 meeting agenda, but that will likely not happen as the attorneys continue to review the documents, he said."I'm hopeful that we will have signed contracts – two competing contracts on Harder Hall within the next five to seven days."Once the city has signed contracts, the potential buyers - Calibre Investment Group ( second try)LLC and Ken White Management and Development LLC - will be invited to present their plans to the council, either at a special meeting or at the Sept. 16 regular council meeting, according to Hoffman.Calibre Investment's plans call for converting the hotel into an independent living facility, and then, at a later date, constructing an assisted living facility on the property.Ken White Investment proposes renovating the hotel into a luxury hotel/resort/spa and to build additional condominium units on the property.A third party has shown interest in Harder Hall and is preparing a proposal for the city, Hoffman added.The Spanish style hotel on Little Lake Jackson opened in 1927, but has been vacant since 1982.The City of Sebring became its owner in August 2007 after the investment group that was renovating the structure went bankrupt.Before the bankruptcy, the city received a $5.2 million HUD (Department of Housing and Urban Development) loan for the hotel's renovation. About $4.6 million of that money was loaned to the investment group that was doing the renovation work.The city was responsible for repaying the $5.2 million loan to HUD. Currently, the city owes about $4.6 million after repaying the $600,000 that was unused from the loan."We've got two very attractive offers that are being negotiated in the preliminary stages and I think that they will result in signed contracts," Hoffman said. We are often lured by the promise of new technologies to make our lives easier and help connect us to others. While they do so in many ways, they also present each of us with opportunities to msake new choices about how we spend our time and invest our energy. Most gadgets are generally meant to improve the quality of our lives, but it is when we spend too much time with them that they actually do the opposite. By always using our portable emailers, cell phones, video games, and surfing the Internet, we actually become less connected and more distracted. By becoming aware of these tendencies, we harness the power to overcome them and make better choices for ourselves and our families.
Once we decide to consciously put our gadgets to work for us, we become masters of our time. We can give our full attention to whatever we are doing and not let phone conversations and other distractions take the place of human contact. Each of us has the ability to consciously choose to be more present in our lives. We can decide at any time to leave our gadgets behind and become aware of the sights and sounds around us in order to expand our awareness and be fully present in our bodies and our surroundings.
When we use our discernment about how we invest our personal energy, we can be sure that we choose only the best for ourselves and those we love. Our gadgets can be useful tools for our journey in the material world, but we must not forget that we are spiritual beings having a human experience and that means interacting with people on a personal level. Choices that enliven us and help us feel connected to our world and our loved ones always deserve our full attention and presence of mind, body, and spirit.

**I have a rule only to be on the computer when I am tired , in betweeen tasks or at a specified time, early morning.++However I notice when I am dispiritied I crave the technological visits more, and I know why. If I drive to Terry's house and she isn't there, it's a let down but if I send out into cyberspace a message to her instantaneously then there's a chance she may answer in an instant~~I do believe one can be enslaved by technology, however I like my visits and groups and bill paying and clubs. I truly feel I need it and it encompasses maybe 1/20th of my day or less. There are worse things what do you say??

we always have other things on our minds- got to get to the market before traffic- got to go to P. O. before closing- so much work to do..I always enjoyed life but cancer has taught me to treasure the moment!!!There are so many rough ones that the good ones must be wrapped tightly against your heart..

Being able to enjoy the company and fun of being with friends might bring energy and sparkle to your activities that may shape the very nature of your relationships. If you can allow yourself to exist in the moment you may find that your interactions createan additional sense of wonder that makes you feel completely alive

Too busy to meditate ?

Yesterday , I got the news about 2 friends. I was so flustered that I went to the post office to mail 2 packages. I ended up paying twice by credit card, forgetting the second package, and mailing my personal ticket to the blogger and my keeping her gift !!1 What a mis mosh-

Perhaps I would have been more settled and focused had I taken a few minutes to meditate- to center.
Ironically, when we get busy, the first thing that tends to get cut back is our meditation practice. We have less time and a lot on our plates, so it makes sense that this happens, but in the end it doesn’t really help us.

Most of us know from experience that we function much better when we give ourselves time each day to sit in silence. And the more we have to do, the more we need that solitary, quiet time for the day ahead. As a result, while it may sound counterintuitive, it is during busy times that we most need to spend more time in meditation rather than less. By being quiet and listening to the universe, we will be given what we need to get through our day. . The truth is, no matter how busy we are, unless we are in the midst of a crisis we always have five or 10 minutes to spare. The key is convincing ourselves that spending that time in meditation is the most fruitful choice.

It’s important that we come to value the importance of meditation in the context of all the other things competing for attention in our lives. When we come from a place of centered calm, we are more effective in handling our busy schedules and more able to keep it all in perspective. If more time in meditation means less time feeling anxious, panicky, and overwhelmed, then it’s certainly worth the extra time..

Yesterday has taught me for the umpteenth time- because I keep forgetting- that the pauses to regather ourselves are important. 3 years ago now, my friend Ron was on the way to his brother's funeral. He was late, lost and flustered. Instead of pulling over and relaxing and refocusing. He attempted to yell at his wife and vice versa and read the map while driving. 2 blocks from the funeral home , Ron was killed in a head- on collision. His mother buried 2 sons 2 days later.His wife has said many times, she wished they would have just taken a quiet moment.....

Today was graduation in Sebring , Florida. This is the last class I taught - graduating. Many people had to leave the bleacher at Fireman's Field- Just too hot..I wasn't making any progress so I went walking around buying vegetables and meeting people. I always meet someone special, someone God intended me to meet on this journey of life.

Someone asked Clint Eastwood yesterday if he would be doing another Dirty Harry?Clint replied in that half crooked smile with the crusty voice"Do you expect me to chase bad guys with a walker?"

My computer crashed yesterday afternoon. My expert friend Leslie took me through the manual reestablishing the hard drive. Good thing because I got 2 little jobs for summer- 1 is 4 hours per week tutoring at a learning center, and the other 10 hours a week customer service from home - yay yay I need to keep busy until my other job resumes in October. I am very very blessed and thankful..

In the abyss with sadness

I'm a very upbeat person, never say die - but its looking quite dismal in a lot of areas of my life right now-I'm doing a lot of self talk, praying and planting just a little hope- though I have been shot down a lot.

The last thing most of us want to hear or think about when we are dealing with profound feelings of sadness is that deep learning can be found in this place. In the midst of our pain, we often feel picked on by life, or overwhelmed by the enormity of some loss, or simply too exhausted to try and examine the situation

. We may feel far too disappointed and angry to look for anything resembling a bright side to our suffering. Still, somewhere in our hearts, we know that we will eventually emerge from the depths into the light of greater awareness. When when when ???Remembering this truth, no matter how elusive it seems, can help

. The other thing we often would rather not hear when we are dealing with intense sadness is that the only way out of it is through it. Sitting with our sadness takes the courage to believe that we can bear the pain and the faith that we will come out the other side. With courage, we can allow ourselves to cycle through the grieving process with full inner permission to experience it. This is a powerful teaching that sadness has to offer us—the ability to surrender and the acceptance of change go hand in hand.

Another teaching of sadness is compassion for others who are in pain, because it is only in feeling our own pain that we can really understand and allow for someone else’s. Sadness is something we all go through, and we all learn from it and are deepened by its presence in our lives.I do feel for others I have that empathy- always have had.

While our own individual experiences of sadness carry with them unique lessons, the implications of what we learn are universal. The wisdom we gain from going through the process of feeling loss, heartbreak, or deep disappointment gives us access to the heart of humanity.

Folks, after yesterday I assure you I have heart on so many levels!!!!

Searching for contentedness

Sometimes the world is too much with you . You are reminded of what big loss can be and you search not out there, but in the tranquility of your own home.

Your home is the setting where you will likely feel most at ease and relaxed . . You may feel driven to focus on domestic concerns and care for your family in a direct and conscious way. If you feel that worldly concerns are intruding upon your tranquility, you can reestablish your contentment by putting thoughts of the past and future away and living in the moment.

There are many more joys to be had in simply existing than you once thought possible. Focus on the gladness inherent in being alive. Learning to be content allows you to maintain a blissful emotional equilibrium that comes from within and is therefore not affected by outer circumstances.

Inner contentment frees you from worry and prepares you to slip into a lasting state of mental peace. . Awakening your inner tranquility will become an easy task.

How often we long for other things, times, places, when we are so blessed with what we have right in our homes. The thought of losing that is monumental.Choose contentment first...

The picture was taken during a photo-call to announce an attempt by the boat to break the round-the-world speed record. Pete Bethune, the New Zealand skipper of Earthrace, said the circumnavigation of the globe would begin from Valencia in Spain on March 1, 2008, according to the news agency Press Association. Bethune will be attempting to break the current world record of 74 days, 20 hours, and 58 minutes set in 1998. The boat runs completely on biodiesel with a net zero carbon footprint. As a symbolic gesture, the captain and two volunteers underwent liposuction to produce 2.5 gallons

Flowing Water is my teacher

The journey of water as it flows upon the earth can be a mirror of our own paths through life. Water begins its residence on Earth as it falls from the sky or melts from ice and cascades down a mountain into a tributary or stream. In the same way, we come into the world and begin our lives on Earth. Like a river that flows within the confines of its banks, we are born with certain defining characteristics that govern our identity. We are born in a particular time and place, into a specific family, and with certain gifts and challenges.

Within these parameters, we move through life, encountering many twists, turns, and obstacles along the way—just as a river flows. Water is a great teacher that shows us how to move through the world with grace, ease, determination, and humility. When a river breaks at a waterfall, it gains energy and moves on. As we encounter our own waterfalls, we may fall hard, but we always keep going. Water can inspire us not to become rigid with fear or hold fast to what is familiar. Water is brave and does not waste time clinging to its past but flows onward without looking back.

At the same time, when there is a hole to be filled, water does not flee from it, fearful of the dark; instead, it humbly and bravely fills the empty space. In the same way, we can face the dark moments of our life rather than running away from them.
Eventually, a river will empty into the sea. Water does not hold back from joining with a larger body, nor does it fear a loss of identity or control. It gracefully and humbly tumbles into the vastness by contributing its energy and merging without resistance. Each time we move beyond our individual egos to become part of something bigger, we can try our best to follow the lead of the river.

Reprinted article fromEnvironmental project I am writing this because I was riding with someone this weekend who rolled down the window and threw out trash again and again.I felt my teeth grinding and my jaw tightening.

Compassion for All
You may be someone who understands the true nature of reality, perceiving deeply that we all emanate from the same source, that we are all essentially one, and that we are here on Earth to love one another. To understand this is to be awakened to the true nature of the self, and this understanding is a blessing.

Nevertheless, people who just do not get it are seemingly everywhere and, often, occupy positions of power. It can be frustrating and painful to watch them behave unconsciously. We all encounter individuals such as this in our families, at work, and in all areas of public life. It is easy to find ourselves feeling intolerant of these people, wishing we could be free of them even though we know that separation from them is an illusion. It helps sometimes to think of us all as different parts of one psyche.

Within our own hearts and minds we have dark places that need healing, just as the heart and mind of the world have their dark places. The health of the whole organism depends upon the relative health of the individuals within it. We increase harmony when we hold on to the light, not allowing it to be clouded by judgment, anger, and fear about those who behave unconsciously. It is easier to accomplish this if we don’t focus on the negative qualities of individuals and instead on how increasing our own light will increase that of the overall picture.

When dealing with people who seem very unconscious, it helps to remember that everyone must find their own way to awakening, and that the experiences they are having are an essential part of their process. Holding them in the glow of our energy may be the best way to awaken theirs. At the same time, we are inspired by their example to look within and shed light on our own unconscious places, sacrificing the urge to judge and surrendering instead to humble self-inquiry. "

Needing Private Moments

3 of my 4 appointments were not in yesterday . I came home drained and decided I shall have some private Sandy days to think abnout the resurrection, do some Spring cleaning and juicing and repair.We all need private moments from time to time..

The Gift Of Privacy

A need for privacy can come over you suddenly . You may find you feel distressed when among large groups of people or drained after interacting with others individually. You’ll likely respond to the growing tension you feel by seeking out a quiet place to escape the hectic pace of your daily routine. After taking an introspective look at your mood and mind-set, you may realize that your desire for solitude is rooted in a sense of disconnection. Taking time to simply indulge your whims and enjoy your own company can help you rediscover your values and fulfill those personal needs that you may overlook when your outer world is busy. Making the most of your solitude today is as easy as doing only what you want to do and listening closely to your emotions.

We all need privacy occasionally -it affords us the freedom to reconnect with our inner selves away from the distractions and demands of a busy world. Though many equate time spent in private with isolation, the two are only minimally related. Whereas isolation implies loneliness, willing solitude is a unique pleasure we choose to pursue. Alone, we can step out of the hectic pace we must adapt to in our everyday lives and can rediscover the tempo of our internal chronometers. We can likewise do precisely what we wish to do without having to compromise our own needs in order to cooperate with others. When you feel overwhelmed or exhausted today, solitude can be a welcome and much anticipated gift.

But my body has fallen to a level where I simply cannot always do what I want. I awoke, cold and achy, a sign that my immune system is askew. What will I do?A lot of heavy physical labor ahead for me today??Rethink , postpone probably. I never used to be able to do this. I would forge ahead and become extra sick.
